Practical entrepreneurship for business students via SmiLe

| Medlemsnyhet | Företag SmiLe Incubator

SmiLe is launching a campaign to encourage its member companies to recruit business students from The School of Economics and Management at Lund University.

SmiLe Incubator wants to provide business students with the opportunity to work on projects at life science startup companies. Students will gain insight into what entrepreneurship entails and can discover a potential career path alongside the more traditional route, while the companies will receive qualified help.
SmiLe is therefore launching a campaign to encourage companies to take advantage of this opportunity to receive help from students.

The School of Economics and Management at Lund University has a job bank where companies can post ads for jobs or projects aimed at business students. SmiLe is now working to encourage companies to take advantage of this opportunity by spreading the word within the SmiLe community.

Business projects may include marketing strategies, market analysis, brand building, digital marketing, supplier research and financing issues. Other opportunities may involve statistics or legal matters, since both the Department of Statistics and the Department of Business Law are part of the School of Economics and Management, where students study subjects such as regression analysis, sampling theory, deep learning, artificial intelligence methods and advanced machine learning.

The collaborative effort between the School of Economics and Management and SmiLe is valuable from many perspectives: students will gain broader knowledge of entrepreneurship by working with a CEO on issues typically faced by entrepreneurs, they will gain insight into issues specific to life science, and they will expand their network in the business community and add to their resumés. The companies will gain people who are both knowledgeable and interested in working with financial and marketing issues, and Smile will further strengthen its collaboration with Lund University.

“We are extremely positive about encouraging students to take an interest in entrepreneurship and to be able to show them that it is a potential career path for business graduates. The Smile Companies will have the opportunity to give back to the university by helping students, while benefitting from quality help with specific tasks. We also see the value of this opportunity and have posted an ad at the job bank with an opportunity for someone to work on a project here at SmiLe,” says Ebba Fåhraeus, CEO of SmiLe Incubator.

Brief information about how companies receive help from business students:

Upload an ad at the School of Economics and Management website for free. The job ads are taken down after one month.
An ad may include an unpaid project or paid extra job for one or more students at the bachelor’s or master’s level. The companies hire the students they choose from the applicants.
More instructions can be found here.
