Technical Sales Specialist- Next Generation Sequencing

Thermo Fisher Scientific is currently recruiting for a field based Technical Sales Specialist to cover in the Nordics territory the Next Gen Sequencing consumables portfolio. The successful candidate will have the ability to build relationships with Key Opinion Leaders and life science customers, position and sell relevant products across customer applications.

The Next Gen Sequencing TSS will have strong technical and product expertise and will lead the sales process for Ion torrent portfolio in the research market.

How will you make an impact?
Next generation sequencing (NGS) have shown to be a disruptive tool for driving discovery and enabling the future personalized medicine. As a Technical Sales Specialist, you will play a direct part in our mission by influencing and enabling our customers who purchase our NGS systems for basic and cancer research as well as for the study of inherited diseases. You will get the opportunity to work with technology which has revolutionized science, and help our customers save lives by the use of NGS.

What will you do? 

  • Develop and manage to a business plan to meet or exceed business goals agreed upon with Commercial management for the territory.
  • Partner closely with the Genetic Analysis Sales Representatives and District Manager, as assigned, on account planning and lead generation as identified via workflow solution opportunities.
  • Consistently and accurately manages sales process including sales forecasting, pipeline management, and sales tracking through the use of CRM system and other designated IT tools.
  • Develop and maintain current knowledge of next generation sequencing markets, products, and buying practices required to effectively compete in the assigned territory.
  • Utilize product and application to successfully conduct consultative and strategic selling presentations.
  • Understand customer goals, priorities and challenges such that company solutions are best positioned to address customer needs.

How will you get here?

  • Minimum MSc / BSc or equivalent degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular or Cellular Biology.

Experience and technical requirements

  • Deep NGS know how
  • Previous sales experience preferred
  • Requires understanding of commonly-used molecular biology techniques.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • High motivation and energy level to develop new business.
  • Process oriented with demonstrated attention to details.
  • Must be flexible and willing to travel between 70- 80%
  • Knowledge of accounts in territory is preferred.
  • Clean driving license
