Associate Director / Director Immunology and Immunogenicity

Affibody is looking to recruit a new coworker with immunology and immunogenicity experience to our Translational Medicine (TM) group. The location is at Affibody’s premises at Karolinska Institutet, Campus Solna. The TM group, currently consisting of nine coworkers with a mixture of various specialist competences, supports the discovery and development projects with scientific input around mechanism of action, PK/PD, pharmacology, toxicology, safety pharmacology, and immunogenicity and leads the target vetting and project conceptualization activities prior to project initiations. Some members of the TM group also act as cross-functional Project Leads during the pre-clinical development phase and are involved in aspects of clinical development. This position includes being a representative for the TM group and supporting with scientific and strategic input in various project teams. In addition, this position also holds an overall responsibility for immunogenicity strategies and assessments.

About the Position Your main responsibilities will include:

• Responsibility for scientific input and support within the project about mechanism of action, potential biomarkers, translational endpoints, and competitor information. You will also ensure that other specialists (e.g. for PK/PD, toxicology, clinical development etc), internal or external, are engaged when appropriate.

• Increase the internal knowledge within the field of immunogenicity and immunotoxicity related to drug development of biotherapeutics.

• Support the projects with immunogenicity and immunotoxicity input and work closely with our scientists developing and performing related assays.

• Outsource immunogenicity/immunotoxicity assays to CRO:s and interpret data.

• Perform immunogenicity risk assessments in the projects and contribute with writing of regulatory documents and interactions with competent authorities.

• Contribution to questions around developability and product profile

.• Close collaboration with Project Leads and different functional groups within Affibody.

• Preparation and presentation of relevant project related topics. 


The right candidate fulfills the following qualifications:

• PhD degree in Life Sciences, e.g., immunology or similar.

• Strong knowledge and experience within immunology and immunogenicity.    2 (2)  

• Experience of cross functional teamwork and good communication and interaction skills.

• Verbal and written communication skills in English and ability to communicate effectively in a business environment.

• Experience of drug development is an advantage.

 • Experience of in vitro and in vivo pharmacology is an advantage.

• Experience from interactions with competent authorities is an advantage.

You have the ability to work independently and to make priorities in order to deliver business critical items in time.
