We often speak of life science as a single sector, but I would argue that it is better understood as a system of systems. Clinical practice intersects with research, education, industry, data, regulation, logistics, skills supply and budgetary realities. In stable times, a degree of ambiguity is manageable: a pilot project here, a local exemption there, parallel solutions that are supposed to be “harmonised” over time.
