5 miljarder till superkluster
Världens mest attraktiva plats för life science. Det är målet för femmiljardersprojektet , en ny stadsdel som byggs för att förena Stockholm och Solna. År 2025 kommer ytan att husera 600 000 kvadratmeter kontor och laboratorier tillägnade life science, inklusive ett helt nytt universitetssjukhus.

Vinnmerpengar till fler
Vinnovas program Vinnmer betalar halva lönen för forskare som beviljas stöd inom programmet. Nu får ytterligare 15 kvinnor, både i Sverige och utomlands, bidrag.

14 nyvalda ledamöter till IVA
Kungl. Ingenjörsvetenskapsakademien, IVA, har utsett 14 nya ledamöter. Elva av dem finns vid svenska företag och lärosäten medan de andra tre är knutna till utländska institutioner.

Både svart och vitt på årets mässor
Årets mässor, Biotech Forum+Scanlab och Medicinska riksstämman, minskade i besök. 8 700 besökare under onsdagen och torsdagen att jämföra med 11 900 under 2007. Bland utställarna är uppfattningen delad, många är nöjda medan andra är besvikna.

75 million for research schools
Gothenburg University, Karolinska Institutet, Linköping University and Umeå University have received SEK 75 million from the Research Council. The money will be used to build five national clinical research schools. The research schools will receive 15 million each over five years.

Multilabel plate readers with luminescence capability
The Enspire Multilabel Plate Reader platform from Perkin Elmer now features sensitive luminescence detection. The new detection capability is primarily aimed at improving assay performance and sensitivity for scientists working with primary cells or stem cells in cancer and neuropharmacology research.

Clinical trials in large scale to Stockholm
Karolinska Trial Alliance, KTA, will open a medical clinical for clinical trials in Phases II-IV. The clinic will be able to accommodate up to 150 patients per study, so that companies do not have to go abroad for clinical trials.
