AlzeCure, which operates in Flemingsberg near Karolinska Institutet Huddinge, develops treatments for conditions including Alzheimer’s disease and neuropathic pain. The company has now announced that it is licensing its Alzstatin candidate, ACD680, to the US pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly.
ACD680 is being developed as a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease and works by reducing the production of the harmful amyloid-beta protein Aβ42. The compound is also designed to increase the production in the brain of harmless amyloid-beta proteins that may help reduce the aggregation of amyloid plaques.
