Almost 150 will leave Coloplast

The Danish medtech company Coloplast negotiates headcount reductions, with a total number of almost 150 employees.
Coloplast has been moving its production from Denmark to primarily Hungary and China over the past years, resulting in less demand for employees in Denmark. Coloplast has commenced negotiations with trade unions aimed at reducing the number of employees by 100-150 in its Danish factories. Uncertainty caused by the financial crisis has reduced the number of voluntary resignations significantly. Traditionally, this has been the tool by which reducing the number of employees in Denmark has been managed. The negotiations are expected to be finalized before the end of January 2009.

The Copenhagen based Coloplast was founded in 1957 The company develops, manufactures and markets products within, mainly, three areas: Ostomy care products for people whose intestinal outlet has been surgically rerouted through the abdominal wall, urology and continence care products for people with problems in the urinary system or in the male reproductive system, and dressings for the treatment of chronic wounds and skin care products for prevention and treatment.
