New firm based on SLU research

Four researchers at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, SLU, has recently founded a new nanotech company.

, Gulaim Seisenbaeva, Sebastian Håkansson and Maria Unell from SLU has initiated the SLU Holding firm Captigel. The purpose of SLU Holding is to, by business oriented means, stimulate the commercial development of ideas founded at, or in collaboration with, SLU. SLU Holding assists employees and students at SLU in questions regarding for example business development, technology transfer, patent,early stage financing, business law and contracting.

The new firm Captigel

is focusing on nanotechnology. The researchers have built a technique platform to create gel enveloping environments in micro spheres. Through these environments it will be possible to control the release of active substances, for example drugs and vaccines in wanted parts of the human body. This technique can also be used for cosmetics treatments against skin damages.
